What I do
What is Interventional Radiology (IR) ?
Interventional Radiology is a highly advanced medical specialty where minimally invasive procedures are performed using real-time medical imaging. These imaging techniques—such as fluoroscopy, CT scan, MRI, and ultrasound—help the doctor navigate small instruments through blood vessels and organs with extreme precision.
As an Interventional Radiologist, Dr. Major Nitin Arun Dikshit performs image-guided procedures through tiny skin punctures rather than large surgical incisions. Using fine needles, wires, and catheters, various conditions can be diagnosed and treated with minimal pain, reduced hospital stay, faster recovery, and lower risk compared to traditional surgery.
Interventional Radiology plays a vital role in the treatment of vascular diseases, cancer interventions, emergency medicine, pain management, and organ-specific therapies. It is one of the fastest-growing and most impactful branches of modern medicine.
